Salt Lake City — Durham Jones & Pinegar is pleased to announce that it has been named the Women Lawyers of Utah (WLU) 2013 Outstanding Women Lawyers Supporter (OWLS) Award Recipient. A newly established honor, the OWLS Award is presented to a group or individual demonstrating extraordinary efforts to support and promote the advancement of women in the legal profession. The award was presented at WLU’s annual fall retreat and was accepted for the firm by Jessica Peterson, chair of the firm’s Women Lawyers Group.
Durham Jones & Pinegar received the award, in part, for providing excellent Continuing Legal Education (CLE) opportunities for Utah’s women lawyers and for facilitating the participation of WLU members beyond the Wasatch Front. Specifically, in 2012, Durham Jones & Pinegar teamed up with WLU to create and launch free monthly CLE luncheons for WLU members. Since then, the firm has sponsored and hosted more than ten CLE luncheons. The presentations given at these luncheons covered a variety of legal topics presented by legal professionals throughout the community. The firm has also been instrumental in providing WLU programs to WLU members in St. George, and has recently sponsored the creation of both the Northern Utah and Southern Utah chapters of the WLU.
“I’d like to thank the Women Lawyers of Utah Board for their vision in expanding CLE opportunities and extending the reach of WLU to women lawyers throughout Utah,” said Peterson. “We would not have had monthly CLEs without Durham Jones & Pinegar’s support of the program.”
Durham Jones & Pinegar’s Women Lawyers Group is comprised of twelve women attorneys practicing in ten different practice groups in the firm’s five offices.
