Durham Jones & Pinegar of Counsel attorney T. Richard Davis received the Utah State Bar Distinguished Service Award for the Banking & Finance Section on January 28th. This award “recognizes an attorney who, over a long and distinguished legal career, has made an outstanding contribution to the banking/finance area of law practice and/or has rendered extraordinary contributions to the programs and activities of the Banking and Finance Section of the Utah State Bar.”
Mr. Davis not only has had a successful 40+ year career in banking and real estate, but an impressive history of service within the Utah community as well. Community work is where Rick has felt immense fulfillment within his career.
Since 2010, he has served as co-chair on the Utah State Bar Third District Pro Bono Committee. He initiated and continues today a program that recruits senior attorneys to help with projects and people in need of legal assistance. Since 2010 he has also been on the board of Salt Lake Education Foundation. The Foundation strives to make sure that all students have the support needed to excel in school. He has helped raise funds, donated by businesses and professionals, for community living centers so that students and their families’ needs can be met, including: vision, dental, medical, food, clothing, etc.
Rick currently serves as President of the Board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: Utah-Idaho Chapter. Having two grandchildren with Cystic Fibrosis, his work within the foundation is personal. In 2008, the Utah-Idaho Chapter raised $300,000 in charitable donations. This year they have raised 2 million dollars. Donations and research have led to a new break-through medication, raising life-expectancy from 20-30 years to 70 plus years.
We are proud to have T. Richard Davis as part of Durham Jones & Pinegar and of this achievement which is well deserved.
