BIOGRAPHY
Gregory N. Barrick is a shareholder of the firm, past director of the firm, and current chair of the firm’s Estate Planning Section. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, Mr. Barrick worked with Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy in Salt Lake City (from 1986 to 1998), and with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, in Los Angeles, California (from 1982 to 1986).
Mr. Barrick represents clients with respect to family wealth, estate, and asset preservation planning, trust, probate and estate administration matters, including the duties of fiduciaries, charitable giving, and sophisticated business and estate tax planning matters.
He first began developing his expertise in this area of practice while in California, where he worked on such notable estates as the Estate of Howard Hughes, the Estate of Walt Disney, the Estate of Conrad Hilton, among others, along with numerous business transactions requiring advanced planning techniques and strategies.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”), currently serving as the ACTEC State Chair for Utah. He previously served as the ACTEC State Chair for Utah (2000 – 2012), is former member of the ACTEC’s State Chair Steering Committee, and a former member of ACTEC’s Nominating Committee. He also has been an adjunct professor at the University of Utah where he taught Business Law in the David Eccles School of Business.
