Las Vegas — Attorneys Robert L. Bolick, Sherwood N. Cook and Timothy S. Cory have been named to the list of Top Lawyers 2013 featured in the October 2013 Edition of Desert Companion Magazine, which is a publication of Nevada Public Radio. All three lawyers practice in the Las Vegas office of Durham Jones & Pinegar, P.C.
The three shareholders combined have more than 65 years of experience practicing law in the Las Vegas area. Bolick, who served on the firm’s Board of Directors from September 2010 to April 2012, was recognized for his work in the area of Trusts and Estates; Cook was honored for his Corporate Law work; and Cory was honored for his success in the Bankruptcy Law area.
Mr. Bolick also previously served as the managing partner of Durham Jones & Pinegar’s Las Vegas office and is a member of the firm’s Tax and Estate Planning practice section. Mr. Bolick has practiced in Las Vegas since 1985. His practice emphasizes asset protection and wealth transfer. He is a frequent lecturer to civic and bar association groups. Mr. Bolick maintains an “AV” rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for professional competence and ethics.
Mr. Cook is a member of the firm’s Business & Finance Section. His practice covers a wide variety of business-related transaction and compliance areas of law, including business formation and planning, capital raising alternatives, succession planning, debt and equity securities offerings, and securities and franchising law compliance.
Mr. Cook has represented clients in the purchase or sale of businesses, from hotel-casinos to franchisees. His regulatory background has allowed him to successfully represent promoters, issuers, brokers, investment advisors and franchisors before a variety of securities and franchise regulatory agencies. From 1987 to 1990, Mr. Cook served as Nevada Deputy Secretary of State for Securities.
Mr. Cory is an “AV” rated attorney with Martindale-Hubbell and became a shareholder of the firm in January 2012, after nearly thirty years in practice as Timothy S. Cory & Associates. He is a former Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustee in Nevada and has represented clients in most major cases in the Bankruptcy Courts in Nevada over the past thirty years, also serving as court appointed receiver in the state court system.
Cory is an experienced litigator in both federal and state courts and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
