Durham Jones & Pinegar attorneys Paul Durham, Ken Cannon and Steve McCardell have been named to the list of the top 100 lawyers in the Mountain States by Mountain States Super Lawyers magazine for 2012. The Mountain States include Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Paul Durham has practiced real estate law and litigation in Salt Lake City for 32 years. He founded Durham Jones & Pinegar in 1991, and together with many outstanding partners has built the firm from two lawyers in 1991 to approximately 80 lawyers today. Durham currently serves as Vice President and Director of the firm. He also serves as General Counsel to the firm and chairs its Ethics Committee. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and is also listed in Best Lawyers in America. During his years of law practice, Durham has also provided significant public service in the community. He has served since 2002 on the Board of Trustees of Pioneer Theatre Company and as its Chair from 2011 to the present. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the S. J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah for the past 10 years, serving as its President from 2007-2009. He has taught law as an Adjunct Professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Mr. Durham was the Chair of the Salt Lake City Managing Attorneys Association from 2005-2006. He has also served as a Disciplinary Panel Judge for the Utah State Bar from 1989-1991, and was the President of the Young Lawyers Association of the Utah State Bar from 1986-1987.
Ken Cannon has practiced bankruptcy law for more than 25 years. In 2010, he was honored as Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Salt Lake City. Mr. Cannon maintains an “AV Preeminent” rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for professional competence and ethics. He is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Cannon has served as a member of the National Advisory Council, College of Family Home & Social Sciences at Brigham Young University, and as its Chair from 2010 to the present. He has served as the Chair of the Local Rules Committee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah since 2008. He has been a member of the Attorney Disciplinary Committee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah since 2007. Steve McCardell has practiced law in business bankruptcy and insolvency matters for over 30 years. He served as a judicial clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah for three years before joining a national firm for 22 years. Since 2006, he has practiced law with Durham Jones & Pinegar. Mr. McCardell is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and is also listed in Best Lawyers in America. He is a Fellow with the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has been named one of the Top 25 Salt Lake City Lawyers by Mountain States Super Lawyer Magazine. Mr. McCardell served as a member of the Local Rules Committee, U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit and as a member of the Utah State Bar Ethics Advisory Opinion Committee from 1995-2004, and as its Chair from 2003-2004. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University.
