Salt Lake City-based law firm Durham Jones & Pinegar (D|J|P) and Las Vegas law firm Bolick & Boyer (B&B) have merged, effective September 1, 2009. The combined firm comprises 70 lawyers in 4 offices in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and St. George, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada, covering more of Utah and Southern Nevada than any other law firm. The resulting enhanced coverage creates greater opportunities for current and prospective clients of both firms. The Bolick & Boyer attorneys will practice under the Durham Jones & Pinegar name beginning September 1, in their existing facilities at 10785 W. Twain Ave., Suite 200. With a total of 7 attorneys, D|J|P’s Las Vegas office is the largest in Nevada of any other Utah-based firm. D|J|P is pleased to welcome the following Las Vegas attorneys to the firm: Rob Bolick, Kim Boyer, Sherwood Cook, Erv Nelson, Tracy Rau, Brad Slighting, and Phil Van Alstyne.

“We are delighted with the strategic value of this merger,” said former B&B founder and Managing Partner Rob Bolick. D|J|P Chairman and President Kevin R. Pinegar commented, “We believe that the combined firm’s value proposition for clients will be unsurpassed in our respective markets.” Mr. Pinegar added, “This is a great opportunity, given commonality among some key practice areas and our keen desire to better serve our Nevada clients. We are fortunate to add the deep talent of Bolick & Boyer, a firm widely respected throughout the Nevada legal community. We look forward to working with these great attorneys to improve our position as a leading full-service law firm.”

“D|J|P is excited and prepared for this next chapter in our continued steady growth,” said Paul Durham, D|J|P co-founder and board member. “We are pleased to be able to expand in a challenging economic climate where many law firms are reducing in size or closing altogether. We look forward to collaborating with the Bolick & Boyer attorneys as partners working together to serve current and future clients.”

“As we considered a stable, multidisciplinary platform to expand our client services, D|J|P was a great choice,” Mr. Bolick said. “We share a common philosophy of result-oriented, personal service. Our people are excited about becoming part of the Durham Jones & Pinegar culture of teamwork. It’s a well managed firm whose lawyers are equally skilled in the law and providing clients with practical advice that makes sounds business sense. It is truly a wonderful fit.”

D|J|P is among the largest law firms in Utah, providing a full range of legal services to a diverse client base throughout the Intermountain West, across the United States, and internationally. The attorneys at both D|J|P, founded in 1991, and B&B, established in 1987, have received top accolades and are ranked among leaders in their field by their profession, the industries they serve, and by their respective local business communities. D|J|P opened an office in Las Vegas in 2006 primarily with a bankruptcy and litigation focus in Nevada. Strategic advantages resulting from the merger of D|J|P with B&B include the further expansion of D|J|P’s Las Vegas practice with the addition of B&B’s business law, elder law, family law, real estate, civil litigation, estate planning, and asset protection services. In addition to enhancing the existing strengths of both firms in such areas as tax and estate planning, real estate, family law, corporate and securities, and complex commercial litigation, the combination also adds a leading elder law practice to D|J|P, with renowned certified elder law attorney, Kim Boyer.
