Durham Jones & Pinegar, a leading law firm in Utah and Nevada, elected five new shareholders, Melinda H. Birrell, Jonathan H. Hoagland, K. Ray Johnson, Mark R. Nelson and Matthew J. Orme, effective November 1, 2017. The election of these attorneys brings the total number of D|J|P shareholders to 62.

Melinda H. Birrell, located in the Salt Lake City office, is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Real Estate sections, as well as part of the firm’s Women Lawyers Group. Mrs. Birrell’s practice focuses largely on real property disputes, breach of contract cases, employment actions and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from J. Rueben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
Jonathan H. Hoagland, located in the Salt Lake City office, is a member of the firm’s Estate Planning section. Mr. Hoagland’s practice focuses on entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals and families, where he advises them on estate planning and tax matters. He received his LL.M in Taxation from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor from J. Rueben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
Ray Johnson, located in the Lehi office, is a member of the firm’s Estate Planning section. Mr. Johnson handles wills and trusts, family-owned business formations and operations, estate and trust administration, and tax planning. Mr. Johnson is licensed in both Utah and California. He received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Idaho College of Law.
Mark R. Nelson, located in the Lehi office, is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section. Mr. Nelson’s practice is primarily civil and commercial litigation. He also has considerable experience in appellate litigation, and in litigating high-conflict domestic disputes. He received his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from Brigham Young University.
Matthew J. Orme, located in the Salt Lake City office, is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Employment sections. Mr. Orme represents clients in disputes involving a variety of legal issues including contracts, business torts, real estate, business organizations and employment law. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the William S. Boyd School of Law.
